OUR PASTOR - Rev. Gary Bement
Rev. Gary Bement - His Story In His Own Words
Sylvia and I began our married life in our early twenties while I was in the Air Force in Michigan. We celebrated our thirtieth anniversary last January. The move to Kingsport in 1999 was move number 12 for us.
While I was serving as an Air Force Chaplain, the most enjoyable and memorable move for the family was when we were stationed in Holland for three years. It was a unique experience; one that allowed us to travel throughout Europe enjoying the sights and educating ourselves to European history.
My family resides in Florida and I am the eldest of three children. Sylvia's family resides in Indiana and Virginia and she is the eldest of four. We are both blessed with parents still living. Antique shopping and garage sales/flea markets are favorite pastimes for our family. Along with our sons, I am involved in sports and enjoy the outdoors.
Sylvia has worked as an LPN for twenty years and as an elementary school Special Education Assistant for seven years. Throughout our ministry, she has also been active in church live.
Bret, our oldest son, is a Chemical Engineer with CIBA in Terrytown, NY.
Jared, our youngest son, graduated from Baptist College in Memphis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. He is director of Surgical Operations at Johnson City Medical Center.
We have a close family relationship; and, I believe it is because of our relationship with our Lord. As a family, the Lord and the church have always taken priority. We are ever grateful for His providential care and love.
PASTOR'S CORNER
As we focus as a congregation on the importance of worship, we cannot help but to think of the power of prayer also. As a part of our efforts to fulfill God's plan for our church, the BEAM Team encourages us to pray along with them these things for Bethel:
~Excitement and an awareness of the Holy Spirit
~Surrendered hearts to missions and growth
~Effective ministry to our congregation
~A church full of excited believers anxious to serve
~Dynamic worship of preaching, music, and song
~A unified sense of purpose and well-being.
